Does the building have an elevator?
Our building does not have an elevator. Our apartment is on the main level, referred to as the Rez-de-chaussée or Plancher principal. Once you pass through the lobby, there are seven steps to get to that level. We are located on rez-de-chaussée gauche (left). The people living in apartments on levels 1 through 4 have to climb stairs often. In France the premier etage (1st level) is what we would refer to in the U.S. as the second floor. It is helpful to know this when you are speaking to a French person.
Is the apartment air-conditioned?
We do not have air conditioning in the apartment. Our experience with many Paris hotels that offer air conditioning is that they often don’t have functioning air conditioning. We have ceiling fans, but rarely use them. The weather is usually beautiful during the day and cool at night. The air circulation is very good and the windows open easily if you want fresh air. It is quiet and there is very little street noise.
Do you provide all necessary bed and bath linens?
The apartment is very well equipped with two changes of linens and plenty of plush towels.
Are there grocers or other markets near the apartment?
There are several grocery stores within a few blocks and a very nice produce shop that is also very close. In addition, there are a great many bakeries and patisseries, butchers, cheese shops, coffee, tea and epicurean shops conveniently located nearby.
Is there a hair dryer in the apartment?
Yes, you’ll find a hair dryer as well as a converter to use if you need it for an electric shaver or other small appliance.
Can I get an extra key if we want one?
You can ask the concierge for an additional key and she will provide it for your use.
What is the security for the building?
Our apartment is located in a very safe neighborhood. The building is located in an off the street courtyard with a gate that requires a security code. Also the front door of our building has an additional security code. The windows facing the courtyard have shutters that can be locked from the inside.
Are there instructions as to how to work the appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, etc.)?
There is a book in the apartment with all of the instructions (and manuals) for the appliances.
Does the rental rate include all taxes/fees/long distance calls to the U.S.?
The rate is inclusive of all taxes, fees, phone calls to the U.S. and Canada and Internet/WIFI access. There is a very limited amount of free time for phone calls to cell phones in France, however. Please limit your time on calls to cell phones as much as possible.
Do I need to clean when I leave or will there be a Femme de Menage (house keeper) upon my departure?
We do ask that you leave the apartment in the same condition in which you found it upon arrival. Please leave your sheets and towels in front of the washing machine and run the dishwasher if there are cups and dishes that have been used during your stay.
